Hey, remember the New York City Marathon?

Hey, remember the New York City Marathon?

Seems impossible, but the New York City marathon was just four days ago (!!!). Scroll on for photos from 4th Avenue in Park Slope, Sunset Park, and Bay Ridge, Brooklyn.

Kid reaches out a hand and a smiling marathon runner reaches out to give him five as he passes.
A runner beams as he passes under the bridge across 4th ave at 9th street in Park Slope.
Woman holds out a tissue box to an older runner, who's taking a tissue as they pass.

So many regular people just out cheering for and supporting and helping the runners. WARMS THE HEART, Y'ALL!

Couple of people waiting for runners from Make the Road - they're holding a Make the Road logo sign and another sign that says "You make the road by... RUNNING / ¡sí se puede!"

Love Make the Road New York and the work they do for immigrants in the city. Very happy to see them cheering on their people.

A runner embraces the person who was waiting for them to pass. Lovely backlighting. Other runners out of focus in the background passing.

Glorious every time a runner meets their people along the way.

Couple of runners head down the avenue, just beaming and laughing. They just met their people and are heading off

Joy.

Little kid reaches out his hand to high five runners as they pass. A runner is beaming at him.
Runner pauses to give a kid a low five as she passes.

The kids! So adorable.

A woman in a keffiyeh holds up a Palestinian flag as runners pass.

Free Palestine!

Runner takes a paper water cup from a volunteer in a white poncho as he passes her.
Shot from a long lens looking down 4th Avenue in Brooklyn. Runners coming towards us, beaming. People applauding them. And hundreds of out of focus runners in the background stretching way down the avenue.

This angle kind of took my breath away. There seemed to be a lull in the number of runners, and then suddenly I looked down the street, and wow.

Woman holding a handmade sign that reads "RUN BITCH RUN"

And now the signs. You love the signs, right?

Several women, some wearing head scarves, grin while holding signs that read "Run if you think I'm sexy" and "You're doing amazing sweaty"
Dude grins while holding a handmade sign reading "You're Running Better than our Government!!" with two "I VOTED" stickers on it.
Woman in a Pikachu hoodie holds a sign reading "TAP HERE FOR A CHARGE ATTACK!" with a lightning bolt drawn on it. Runner is laughing, reaching out to slap the sign as she passes.
Woman grins while holding a sign reading "The worst part is over / You're out of Staten Island." Her friend stands beside her, smoking.

They're built different in Bay Ridge, y'all. ❤️
