New York Working Families Party gets over 360,000 votes, earns higher position on future ballots!
BREAKING: The New York Working Families Party nabbed over 360,000 votes on the WFP ballot line in the midterm election, ensuring the party will get a higher position on the ballot for the next four years! This means the WFP will move up past the Conservative Party on the ballot, taking row C instead of row D.
The NYWFP recruited volunteers to do poll visibility all around the city to explain New York City's system of fusion voting, through which candidates can run on multiple party lines. By voting for NYWFP endorsed Democrats on the Working Families Party line, New Yorkers can increase the NYWFP's influence and send the signal that they support the NYWFP's progressive values over milquetoast centrism. As someone who's done poll visibility for the NYWFP, I can say it's also just a ton of fun!

The official press release:
WFP IS THE ASCENDANT POLITICAL PARTY IN NEW YORK, AS IT’S POISED TO MOVE UP TO ROW C ON THE BALLOT
From Brooklyn to Buffalo, with over 360,000 votes already cast on the Working Families Party ballot line, NYWFP will secure a higher position on the ballot for the next four years.
NEW YORK, NY — As ballots continue to be tabulated in counties across the state, the Party has secured at least 360,000 votes for Governor Kathy Hochul and candidate for Lieutenant Governor Adrienne Adams on the Working Families Party line.
NYWFP has surpassed the Conservative Party in statewide ballot-line votes by 130,000 votes so far, marking a major milestone in the Party's almost 30 years of history and moving up the ballot to row C.
"Tonight, working New Yorkers made an unmistakable statement: we demand a government that works for us, not the billionaires or corporate interests. By voting on the Working Families ballot line in record numbers, New Yorkers are poised to make history, propelling the party that fights for them to a new milestone,” said Jasmine Gripper, State Director of the New York Working Families Party.
“For almost 30 years, the Working Families Party has been building an independent political movement to challenge the power of billionaires and corporate interests, and prioritize working people. We expect to overtake the Conservative Party and secure Row C on New York's ballots for the next four years,” continued Gripper. “This is a testament to the hundreds of thousands of New Yorkers who believe that politics can and should deliver for working people. Our independent ballot line is a powerful vehicle for organizing, electing champions, and building the political power necessary to win real change."
The Working Families Party's victory follows an ambitious statewide electoral program to mobilize hundreds of thousands of voters, re-elect Governor Kathy Hochul and Lieutenant Governor-elect Adrienne Adams, flip competitive congressional and state legislative seats, and strengthen the Party's independent political power. Across New York, NYWFP worked alongside labor unions, community organizations, progressive elected leaders, and grassroots activists to encourage voters to cast their ballots on the Working Families Party line.
With its independent ballot line secured and a growing delegation of champions in Albany and Washington, the New York Working Families Party is positioned to be a leading force in winning transformative change for working families across New York.
